Poor decisions cost Nashville as they slide to 2-11 |

NASHVILLE,
Tennessee- It seems to have all started on the evening of September
4, when team ownership made the decision to trade WR Randy Moss to Pittsburgh
for QB Matt Hasselbeck, needless to say that both teams regret the trade.
“We thought when the trade was made we were going to set ourselves
up for the future at least at QB,” states owner Kevin Ryburn. The
season actually showed the team that they have more holes than most golf
courses around the country.
If there is one thing that makes this team dangerous is the fact that there is no possible way they can be as bad as they were this past season. With the 3 guaranteed contracts the team has to give to its players, it looks as if the only player assured of a place on the club, WR Marvin Harrison, is the one player who doesn’t want to be there in the first place. Along with Harrison, the team will probably hang on to Hasselbeck and WR Donald Driver. The biggest problem for this team last year was the inability to keep RB Stephen Davis healthy, and with it being his 10th season this year, that will probably send him back to the draft pool. “If we could have kept Davis healthy or if Eddie George would’ve ran the ball like we knew he was capable of doing this team had the talent to win 8 or 9 games,” explains Ryburn. “I take full responsibility for the way the team played this season.” It was a refreshing chat with the reclusive Nashville owner, after being around other owners who will not or can not take responsibility the change was more than welcome. QB Matt Hasselbeck didn’t really have a bad season for the Pussies, but he didn’t have any help other than Harrison and Driver, even with the two receivers running routes, the team wasn’t helped at all by its defense, which was one of the worst in the league not making it any easier for the offense. “I really made a mistake when it comes to the defense, hopefully I learned my lesson last year,” states Ryburn. It was good news and bad news when Nashville and New Whiteland hooked up last season, in the first meeting of the year New Whiteland nipped Nashville, with a 42 yard FG at the buzzer. Then in the 2nd meeting, Nashville jumped out of the cellar with a spectacular 14 point win, getting a 3 TD performance from QB Drew Bledsoe. With a little more consistency in 2005 they could be hearing the bell toll for them and not someone else.
